Giveaway Thursday

GIVEAWAY DETAILS BELOW

Remember how I went to the Saturday Market last weekend? Remember how I was telling you I picked up a new bag from a very persistent Asian gal? Well here is why:

This is my old purse. I got it about four years ago on the streets of NYC for a great deal! I hadn't been much of a purse person before so this was kind of a big leap for me! But I've loved it! It's been so versatile yet with personality.
But, all of that LOVE has taken its toll on my poor bag.
Wow, the tattered state of this bag is a little more embarrassing than I realized. No wonder the Huz was so excited for me to pick out something at the Saturday Market!

And now, for the new addition to my daily life:

I just noticed yesterday, on the inside there are cute little teal bits that match exactly my wallet I got from Target over a year ago! I think it was meant to be!

What do you think? Do you approve?
But, like I've hinted since getting back - I wasn't the only one to walk away from the Saturday Market with something to add a little pizazz to my life. YOU could, too!!

I picked up these beautiful earrings from Dianne Burghardt at the Saturday Market! And, one lucky winner will be drawn to win them!
 I think they're gorgeous!!
Dianne's business is Mega Beads, boasting "Quality Handcrafted Jewelry" and she and her husband are from West Linn, Ore.

Now here's how YOU can enter to win:

  1. Go to the Salvage Maid Facebook Page and 'Like' it.
  2. Become a follower of this blog.
  3. Leave a comment on this post.
  4. Tweet on twitter with the hashtag #salvagemaid.
There you have it, up to FOUR ways you can be entered to win! The winner will be announced April 10th!  That means you have 10 DAYS to enter and win. This isn't limited to women, men - I'm sure you have a mother, sister, wife, girlfriend, cousin, friend who would LOVE to be surprised with a pretty something special!

Happy Thursday!

Stalking Tuesday: Funky Vintage Lovely

In today's edition of Stalker Tuesday - I've got a blog you'll spend more than a few minutes stalking.

Disclaimer: I've only been stalking it for a week. But, the first time I landed on it, I spent 30 minutes reading a backlog of posts.

I promise, you'll get sucked into April's daily schpeels about life, love, family, faith and of course all things vintage and creative.

And be sure to check out her shop! So many cute things!

But, don't forget, I warned you about it's addictive sucking in powers....

Saturday Market

I haven't posted in a couple of days ... my sister-in-law got married Friday, so me and the Huz were in Portland. We enjoyed a fun filled Friday full of weddingness, food and a Portland Trail Blazer game.

Saturday Eric and I went to the Portland Saturday Market. The first time I ever went there was probably sometime in my teens, if not earlier. I got a ring made from a fork from the Spoonman. And yes, the Spoonman still has a booth there all these years later!

If you're ever in the Portland area on the weekend, I highly recommend taking a couple hours here. The sights, sounds and smells are stimulating enough, but then you have lots of artisans selling their handmade goods. I picked up a treat for myself .... but also one for you! Stay tuned for details on how to win a little somethin' somethin' from the infamous Saturday Market.

And now some visuals...

 Mmm, Marionberry Jam

After I took this photo, Eric pointed out the "No Photos" sign attached - see part of it in the upper left? Oops!

Some of the Spoonman's newer inventions. Ouch!

I married such a mature guy.

This little Asian woman at the bag stand was quite the sales lady. She basically thrust the bag into my hands and ripped away the cash from Eric's clutches. Yes, I bought a new bag - to be shown later!

Thanks for taking an eating photo honey, I really love those.
What does that say about our generation when Huz first sees this photo and exclaims, "Profile Pic!"

Like I said, I wasn't the only one who came away with Saturday Market treats, you might, too! Stay tuned for details on how to win a gorgeous, handmade lovely from the Market!

Where've I seen that?

So, I typed in "vintage blog" on google today, for some fresh break-time entertainment and came across this blog - which I've already taken a liking to. But then I saw THIS (see below) ....

I thought, hmmm, something about this is familiar! It should be familiar to you, too!

Ta-da! Those frames are like full siblings (not even halvsies) of my frame!

See, robin's egg blue is a brill (short for brilliant) color, especially for the spring season.

Today is my Friday, I have my sister-in-law's wedding in Portland tomorrow followed by many fun adventures with The Huz.

What's coming in your first FULL weekend of spring? I really do want to know...

Blue Ribbon Winner

I was taking a short break at work today and flipped on over to the online version of Country Living Magazine. Whilst there I clicked on a link to enter me to win a Farmhouse Store Trunk. I got a trial subscription whilst I was at it (usually I just kipe my Mom's latest issue).

With my free trial I got full access to the online site. The feature "25 Reasons Why Country is Chic Right Now" caught my little eye. Flipping through I clicked on Blue Ribbon Winner by Schuyler Fisk.

Now, I'm falling in love with the song 'Blue Ribbon Winner' found here (I tried to find a video to embed,  but I must've discovered something others haven't yet, cuz there was nada lotta).  Go. Listen. You'll thank me.

Do you have any tunes you've fallen in love with lately?
Happy listening and Happy Wednesday!

Stalking Tuesday

Today is the inaugural day of my newest Salvage Maid blog feature: Stalking Tuesday.

Admit it, you stalk blogs ... you know ... creeping around the internet, spying on blogs - never leaving a comment, but always checking back to see the haps.

Each week I'll feature a new blog or (as time continues marching along) blog posts that I think you'll love.

Today's blog is decor8.

I love this blog! And especially lately - she always uses so much HAPPY color! Today's post reminds us that it is now officially spring and we can take off our winter pessimism parkas and dawn our spirited spring (optimistic) rain jackets.

So, enjoy this springy blog feast!
Happy stalking!

Vision

Recognize this guy?

Maybe seeing the pair will help?!

Some things just take a little vision .... They're now available at my shop.

These are also there, don't you love them? I LOVE the idea of old things that were essential. Flower, sugar ...

My 10 year-old sister, Ri-Lola, has been here with us the past couple of days. Today, she and I hit the mean streets of our little town, Diet Pepsis in hand, and found a treasure! I LOVE how the apples look here.

Speaking of vision and love and lovely treasures - here's two of my favorite photos from our November wedding... with my lovely bridesmaids.

How was YOUR Monday, my dears?

Also, haggled, and got a cool wooden chair for $3 bones that I'm going to paint white. I will post a before and after when it is finished. What kind of treasures (material things or moments) have cropped up in your weekend??

Feeling blue?

Check out my latest listing, a robin's egg blue frame.

What can you do with an empty frame? Just do a Google image search for  "decorating with an empty frame" and you'll see hundreds of ideas! Here's just a few.

Something else I've seen (in many a magazine lately) is to have a letter hanging or nailed in the middle of an empty frame. Looks pretty cute! But, I couldn't find an example in the quick moments I had to look these up.

Tomorrow's Saturday! Woot!

Cooterville City Hall

Cooterville City Hall. While some might say, "Ew! More like Cootyville." I'm naturally drawn to places like these. We ran across this place on the way back from our honeymoon to the Oregon coast. I'm luck to have married a bloak who'll go with me and get just as excited about old, pieces of junk as I do. In fact, we devoted a whole day to thrift store hunting/antique shopping while on our 'moon. While there were many things here I would've loved to have bought, we were short on cash and opted to buy my mom a little pig to add to her collection (unfortunately, that's not pictured).

Yeah, we love junk. Do you?
